october is breast cancer awareness month

a few years ago C’s grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer. at the time, her husband needed pretty much full time care because his lungs were failing. he had an oxygen tank with him 24/7 and slept in his lazy boy in the living room because he was too sick to lay flat in bed. grandma L took care of him day and night, knowing the days with her husband were numbered. on top of all of that she took on the fight and never gave up. she went through chemo, radiation and all the rest of it while taking care of him. that was the first time breast cancer hit so close to home for me. it was also the time it became clear to me that breast cancer is treatable and NOT a death sentence [which was kinda the message my mom had sent all her life - never going to her check-ups or anything] and it’s worth fighting.

C’s grandma is a true fighter and survivor and i want to help get the message out there – for her and all the other survivors and everyone who’s lost a loved one to breast cancer – because knowledge and awareness are two of the most important instruments in order to fight. so i’m going pink for october again this year and i’m participating in the annual boobie-thon. it’s not much i can do, but it’s something and i would like to ask all of you to consider participating as well. be part of something big and important like this AND take the chance to re-design your site in a cute pink :)

i made a button you can get over at pinkforoctober.com and if any of you need any help with a pink design, would like a new [pink] header or whatnot, let me know. if you have boobs, this concerns you – don’t look away! xoxoxo :)

i am going pink for october, too.

my grandma -my dad’s mom- died of breast cancer in 1982. i still miss her.

It feels great to see so many bloggers participating in the Breast Cancer Awareness month! :)

Besides going pink, I will also try to spread the awareness on breast cancer throughout the month.

thats awesome! thanks kim for spreading the word. Thanks for shariing the story about C’s grandma, remarkable. Big hug

This is awesome — my mom’s a breast cancer survivor, so I’ll be looking into going pink this month as well. Glad to hear C’s Grandma is a fighter. :)
